Kelly L. Haws (Ph.D., University of South Carolina) is the Anne Marie and Thomas B. Walker, Jr. Professor of Marketing, Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University. Her research interests focus on consumer behavior and consumer well-being particularly related to self-control, health, and food decision making. Specifically, she focuses on studying strategies designed to help consumers enhance their ability to make healthier food choices through examining variables such as serving sizes, categorization, food labels and health claims, perceptions of healthiness, social influences, pricing, satiation, and variety. Her work has appeared in leading marketing and psychology journals, among others. She received the Early Career Award from the Association of Consumer Research in 2013 and was named an MSI Young Scholar in 2009 and an MSI Scholar in 2018. She was also a recipient of the annual Kinnear Award for the best article in the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and the inaugural AMA-EBSCO Annual Award for Responsible Research in Marketing.
Dr. Haws currently serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. In addition, she serves on the editorial review boards for the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Retailing, and others. She has previously co-chaired both the Summer AMA conference (2017) and the annual Society for Consumer Psychology conference (2019). She currently teaches classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level at the Owen Graduate School of Management. She was previously on the marketing faculty at Texas A&M University where she received several teaching awards.
